What Is the Duration of the GMAT Exam?
Firstly, I am not going to tell you that you should take this long to study for the exam, because there are so many other considerations involved. The key is that you need to make sure that you do the maximum amount of studying possible, and that you are actually improving your chances of achieving success when it comes to the GMAT examination. You cannot afford to sit back and wait until the last few months before the exam, because you will not get the results you want, and there are far too many other students who have achieved success by doing just that.
Secondly, I am not going to recommend that you go out and spend thousands of dollars on tutoring materials. Tutoring is fine if you are prepared to spend quite a bit of money, but if you are struggling financially, then you will find that taking an online GMAT course is the most cost effective solution. Remember, most people can not afford to hire a tutor for a full twelve months, and for that reason they are seeking a cheaper solution. If you use a legitimate course and work hard over the next couple of months, you should be able to successfully complete the course and achieve good grades.
Thirdly, if you do not take my GMAT advice, then you will not know how long it actually takes for you to pass the exam. Each person has their own unique characteristics, which determine their speed of learning. So, I encourage you to study well and don’t let distractions take over your focus. Concentrate on what you are trying to do, and the process will come more naturally. Do not allow yourself to become easily distracted. If you spend the first half trying to figure out how to answer the questions and then start to complete the practice test questions, you will end up with a weaker grasp of the material, and you may fail the exam.
This is an essential point that I can make from experience. When I was preparing for the GMAT, I made every effort to ensure that I had taken every GMAT preparation course that I possibly could. I spent countless hours reading GMAT textbooks and online reviews, and even attended a couple of live tutoring sessions. I also worked hard to gain my test study journal, so that I would not forget my study time. By the end of the semester, I had gained a lot of knowledge, and it was now time to begin testing. Unfortunately, when I attempted to take the GMAT test the very next day, I failed miserably.
I cannot give specific advice for the GMAT, other than to say that it is a long exam, and the taker must prepare themselves by studying as much as possible. Spend as much time on practice tests, and taking as many practice tests as you can. Concentrate on answering the types of questions that are likely to appear on the examination, and take extensive notes on the types of answers that you are providing. If you spend this amount of time before the exam, you should have a much higher percentage of correct answers, because you will have seen many different questions. The more you practice before the examination, the better prepared you will be when you sit down at the actual exam.
The course materials are fairly simple, with a few exceptions. If you take the GMAT prep course that I used, you can expect to get through the entire course in about three months. This is not a very long period of time, but you should not consider it too little time. You should take the time to review all of the concepts you have learned throughout the course and to practice each concept a number of times before sitting for the actual examination.
It is possible that you might end up having to take more than one GMAT examination. If you end up doing that, you should plan in advance how long you are going to spend taking each examination. That way, when it comes time for the actual examination, you will be fully prepared. So spend some time preparing, and take advantage of the free online course before the examination date.
