GMAT Exam Example Questions to Help You Study
First, I read all of the questions one by one. I also reviewed all the resources that I had in front of me, just so I’d have an idea about how to answer the questions. Then, I wrote a few notes on the key points that I wanted to focus on and then crossed them off as I understood them. This made the test take a lot longer because I was actually reviewing and learning instead of guessing.
Second, I wrote down the answers to every question on my practice tests. Then, I saved them in files. Later, I would go back and review these files. Doing so made it so that I could review and refresh my memory about the previous sections of questions I might have forgotten or had not heard before.
Third, I downloaded a GMAT practice test and downloaded it to my laptop. This helped me focus on the test layout and also gave me an idea of how the test would feel like. Online tests are much different than they look online. They are usually constructed in a manner that is similar to an official GMAT test.
So now, let’s talk about the actual studying. There are many different strategies you can use. I know that for me, it took me a lot of time reading questions, writing notes, doing practice tests, and so forth. However, it’s important to start at the end. That’s right, at the end, where you finish reading all the questions.
I suggest taking a full picture of yourself. Picture yourself as a GMAT candidate. Visualize what kind of skills you think you’ll have for this exam. Write down your strong points, and your weak points. This will give you a starting point for your practice tests. In addition, this will help you determine how many questions you can actually take, and thus, where your time will be spent.
Now, let me share with you a secret formula for success on GMAT. It is called the 60-Minute Rule. Spend the first 60 minutes of a test preparing. This includes studying problem problems, solving practice tests, reading questions you’ve received, etc. Once you spend the first half hour practicing, you will feel relaxed, and you won’t feel like wasting any time at all.
Spend the last 30 minutes or so of the exam reviewing what you learned during the previous portion. Don’t try to memorize everything. Memorize the key points. Then, review what you know, and answer the questions that are on your list. This is how to take a GMAT exam!
This advice is similar to time management, but there’s a little twist. You can use time management to your advantage. When you take a lot of practice tests and get good scores, your chances of getting in an excellent school is high. However, if you don’t take advantage of this, then you’ll be running around doing tons of different activities because you’re so anxious to get the score.
This is no way to study. Spend the time to do the things you really want to do. And just think about this. How could you possibly improve your chances of being admitted into the school of your choice, if you’re not even paying attention to the topics they ask you? That’s not effective time management, and it also doesn’t demonstrate you as a good student.
Taking practice tests is a great idea. However, don’t rely on them exclusively. Some GMAT practice tests are only done for a certain number of hours. Don’t waste your time by trying to get every last question correct on these. Focus on the ones that you need to know the most, and move on to the next area.
Studying for the GMAT is one of the most important steps to take. But remember, you’ll be spending a lot of time studying for this test, so make sure you do all the right things to succeed.
