How Much Time Should I Spend on My GMAT Preparation?

For many people, taking the GMAT examination is not a piece of cake. It requires a great deal of planning and hard work before you can take your first test. There are a variety of ways that you can prepare for the GMAT test, but I’ll suggest one option that is very affordable yet effective for many people and that is to hire someone to do all of their GMAT preparation. I’m going to show you how I did it and I’m also going to explain how you can easily prepare for and take the GMAT examination online as well.

I did my prep in about three different ways. I paid a tutor a flat fee to do my prep and I got my books online or used an e-text package. I did both. Now, some people will say that hiring a tutor is a little bit more expensive than getting the books online or using an e-text package, but when you’re doing a big project like this, it can really pay off. You get the benefit of having a qualified expert doing your GMAT preparation work for you. Then when you feel up to it, you can take your actual test at anytime without having to wait.

When I was preparing for my GMAT test, I looked into getting a tutor so that I could spend more time on doing my prep and not have to worry about finding a sitter. I found that there were a lot of different tutoring services in my area. So I decided to take a look at the prices of these tutoring services to see how much time I would save by hiring someone to do all my prep for me.

My first step was to determine how much time I was going to be able to devote to my GMAT study. I had estimated about two hours per day to do my research and to actually do the practice tests. So I went over to my local library to look for some books on the subject. I ended up finding about 200 books on the whole GMAT. There was a lot to read and I was worried that I was going to have to do the entire book list all at once.

So I went ahead and saved some of them to pull out over the holidays. About a month later, I was still going through most of those books, trying to figure out where to even start. Because I was so busy at that point with my own life, I really didn’t know if I was going to get the time to study and to get ready. So when my tutor asked me how I was doing, I said that I was just figuring everything out at the time.

My tutor was nice enough to let me know that if I wanted to be prepared, then I should go ahead and start studying immediately. He also said that I should pull out a notebook and jot down everything I could see in my spare time. After I took care of that, I went ahead and started looking at the different topics that were going to come up on the test. Because I was so focused on getting ready, it took me a couple weeks to really get started. But after that I was able to figure out how to study, and how to get started on my GMAT preparation.

The hardest part of all of this is that I ended up spending way too much time trying to figure out how much time to allot for my GMAT preparation. Because of this, I ended up feeling rushed and overwhelmed at times. But it is definitely a good thing that I did end up spending so much time on my preparation because it definitely paid off for me. I ended up getting a very good grade on my GMAT test, and I was able to get into one of the top ranked business schools in the country.

I will reiterate, that you should not spend any more time researching ways on how much time you will need to devote to your GMAT preparation. You need to start studying immediately. If you do that, you can be sure that you will find out exactly how much time it takes from your life to go through the GMAT process. But even if you do end up needing to spend a little bit of time after you pass out the test, you will be happy that you took the extra time needed to research the process because you will end up getting a very good grade.
